ARTSCIENCE ON SCREEN: SPIRITED AWAY

The ArtScience on Screen presents this extraordinary, award-winning animated classic from iconic animation company, Studio Ghibli. Spirited Away is a fantasy anime about a 10-year-old girl who unknowingly enters fantastical spirit world ruled by strange creatures.

When her parents are transformed into pigs, the young determined heroine tries to release them from their curse by taking a job working in a mysterious bathhouse. She then goes on a liminal journey through the realm of spirits in which nothing is what it seems. 

Enjoy this masterpiece of astounding visual beauty and imagination from Hayao Miyazaki running this week at the ArtScience Museum.

Explore the culinary arts at Botanica Social Cocktails, a light-bite session featuring edibles picked off grounds of local parks.

Chill out all day on the grassy areas, with beer and bites by local hawkers. Don't forget the picnic mats! 


3PM - 6PM

Create your own prints at the FREE Monoprinting Workshop by STPI - Creative Workshop & Gallery.

Under the emotive directorial microscope of actor-turned-director Matt Ross (who scored the Un Certain Regard directing award at Cannes), and with glittering performances from the six youths, and gorgeous cinematography courtesy of Stéphane Fontaine, Captain Fantastic is a heartfelt exposition of the mystifying challenges of fatherhood, fundamental familial values and finding one’s sense of place in a world so often defined by societal constructs.
