DARE TO BE A FORCE OF NATURE
As Singapore declares 2018 to be the year of climate action, we've decided to take our own steps to make our planet a little better. We are incredibly proud to say, that with a little help from our friends and Official Green Partner Green Is The New Black, Garden Beats 2018 will be
Singapore's First Sustainable Music Festival!
Green Is The New Black has hooked us up with some of the coolest conscious brands and initiatives to make Garden Beats a positively green event. Here's how we're doing it...
THE FIRST CARBON-NEUTRAL MUSIC FESTIVAL IN SINGAPORE
Garden Beats will be a carbon neutral festival thanks to our partners at Environmental Solutions (Asia) who have generously sponsored the efforts to offset our carbon footprint caused in the making of this event.
141 metric tons of UN Gold Standard Carbon Credits will be generated by funding an energy efficiency project - Sustainable Development LifeStraw in Rural Kenya. This project brings a free and easy-to-use filtration system to families with little or no access to clean water. (Offsetting 141 metric tons of CO2 is equivalent to planting 706 fully grown canopy trees.)
WASTE NOT WANT NOT
This year we reduce the waste of pesky plastic by using biodegradable cups made from cornstarch by AVANI at the bars. For the first time, we will also introduce a return-your cup reward system. Every time you return your cup to the bar, you save $1 on the next drink! Lost your cup? Pay full price again but we’ll donate that extra $1 to the World Wide Fund for Nature.
THE CONSCIOUS MARKET
Our eco-warrior friends at Green Is The New Black have curated a market featuring local fashion, art, beauty and lifestyle brands who are conscious and mindful in their business. The market will host champion brands like organic and cruelty free Frankskincare, natural beauty & lifestyle range from Ubud Utama Spice, handmade accessories by Just Gaya’s and many more.
Get inspired and learn how to take #LittleGreenSteps to live more consciously at the Green Is The New Black booth - while sparkling your face with plant-based glitter.
FROM GARBAGE TO GARDEN
Food waste from our picnics and food vendors will be donated to local urban farming heroes, Citizen Farm - who will use insect farming to compost it all and turn it into rich fertiliser for their crops.
ART RECYCLING BINS
We’ve all seen the amount of waste that can happen at a festival. We’ll be working with our rockstar volunteers to put together some beautiful recycling bins, so let's think green and keep it clean :)
We’ve been given a beautiful planet to party on and we want to take care of it.
We hope you do too.
