Thursday 29 March @ Artemis
The Foundation presents: Ray Mang, Alan Dixon + guests
If Hip Hop ain't your thing, here is another pick for the long weekend Thursday...
We've been missing some Disco & Funk in our lives lately, so we were pretty happy to find out that there's a new party crew in town dedicated to the future retro sound of disco/disco-funk/house. Located at Artemis, a Mediterranean restaurant and bar on the 40th floor of the CapitaGreen building, The Foundation launch party has a strong line up featuring premier disco producer Ray Meng, Midnight Riot label owner Alan Dixon and local dance floor heroes Stephan Day, Kid Fiesta, JB, Yujin & other guests. Sounds like a proper way to kick off the long weekend.

Saturday, 31 March @ Esplanade Theatre
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
If you've ever read the book by Mark Haddon, you'll be excited about this one! The National Theatre (UK) is in Singapore for the first time and is staging its highly acclaimed production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. The play has won five Tony Awards and seven Olivier Awards, including Best Play, Best Director and Best Design.
The play is about an exceptional fifteen-year-old boy with behavioural disabilities, who falls under suspicion for killing his neighbour’s dog. He begins on his own detective work to identify the true culprit which takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world. The book itself has won multiple awards, including the 2003 Whitbread Book of the Year award and sold more than two million copies. Hailed as “a phenomenal combination of storytelling and spectacle” by The Times, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a theatrical experience not to be missed.

Saturday, 31 March - Sunday, 1 April @ Nyen Choe, Gardenasia
Kranji Countryside Farmer's Market
A wonderful way to wind down the long weekend! The Kranji Countryside Farmer's Market is the first authentic local farmers' market in Singapore. You'll find local produce ranging from grains & herbs, fruit & vegetables and meat (keen on trying some crocodile meat?) to local artisanal products like home-made jams, pestos, chillies and acai bowls.
There's also a garden centre there where you can take home some beautiful plants for your home. Take part in workshops and make-your-own activities, meet the interesting characters that are Singapore's farmers & makers and just get out to see Singapore's countryside!
It's a bit of a trek to get there but it's well worth the afternoon out for a change of scenery. A little tip: while you're in the area, stop by a place called Bollywood Veggies for lunch and an exploration around the open farm.
Entry is free. Parking is limited so either take a Grab or public transport and look out for their shuttle busses from Kranji MRT. More details on their Facebook page.
And that's it, folks! We're so excited for this long weekend. The Sunshine Nation team will be partly in Singapore, Australia, India , Vietnam and Austria. Where ever you'll be this weekend, whatever you get up to, we hope you have fun doing it. (and get that much needed rest, too!)
